WHAT IS ISLAM

حضرت عمر بن خطاب رضی  اللہ عنہ   فرماتے ہیں کہ ایک دن ہم رسول الله صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی خدمت میں بیٹھے ہوئے تھے کہ اچانک ایک شخص آیا جس کا لباس انتہائی سفید اور بال گہرے سیاہ تھے، نہ اس کی حالت سے سفر کے آثار ظاہر تھے ( کہ جس سے سمجھا جاتا کہ کوئی مسافر ہے) اور ہم میں سے کوئی اس کو پہچانتا نہ تھا بہرحال وہ شخص رسول صلی الله علیہ وسلم کے اتنے قریب آ کر بیٹھا کہ اپنے گھٹنے آپ کے گھٹنوں سے ملالئے اور اپنے دونوں ہاتھ اپنی دونوں رانوں پر رکھ لئے۔ اس کے بعد اس نے عرض کیا: اے محمد! مجھے بتایئے کہ اسلام کیا ہے؟ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: اسلام کے ارکان میں سے یہ ہے کہ تم (دل و زبان سے یہ گواہی دو کہ الله تعالی کے سوا کوئی رات عبادت و بندگی کے لائق نہیں اور محمد (صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم) اللہ تعالی کے رسول ہیں ، نماز ادا کرو، رمضان کے روزے رکھو اور اگر بیت اللہ کے حج کی طاقت رکھتے ہو تو کرو۔ اس شخص نے کہا: آپ نے سچھ فرمایا۔ حضرت عمر رضی  اللہ عنہ  فرماتے ہیں ہمیں اس شخص پرتعجب ہوا کہ سوال کرتا ہے گویا کہ جانتا نہ ہو اور پھر تصدیق بھی کرتا ہے (جیسے پہلے سے جانتا ہو ) پھر اس شخص نے عرض کیا: مجھے بتائے کہ ایمان کیا ہے؟ آپ نے ارشاد فرمایا: ایمان یہ ہے کہ تم اللہ تعالی کو، ان کے فرشتوں کو ان کی کتابوں کو، ان کے رسولوں کو اور قیامت کے دن کو دل سے مانور اور اچھی بری تقدیر پر یقین رکھو۔ اس شخص نے عرض کیا: آپ نے سچ فرمایا۔ پھر اس شخص نے عرض کیا: مجھے بتایئے کہ احسان کیا ہے؟ آپ نے ارشاد فرمایا: احسان یہ ہے کہ تم اللہ تعالی کی عبادت اور بندگی اس طرح کرو گویاتم الله تعالی کو دیکھ رہے ہو اور اگر یہ کیفیت نصیب نہ ہو تو پھر اتنا تو دھیان میں رکھو کہ الله تعالى تمہیں دیکھ رہے ہیں۔ پھر اس شخص نے عرض کیا: مجھے قیامت کے بارے میں بتایئے ( کہ کب آئے گی؟ آپ نے ارشادفرمایا: اس بارے میں جواب دینے والا سوال کرنے والے سے زیادہ نہیں جانتا  اس بارے میں میر اعلم تم سے زیادہ ہیں۔ اس شخص نے عرض کیا: پھر مجھے اس کی کچھ نشانیاں ہی بتادو  کے! آپ صلی الله علیہ وسلم نے ارشادفرمایا: (اس کی ایک نشانی تو یہ ہے


کہا باندی اپنی مالکہ کو جنے گی اور دوسری نشانی یہ ہے کہ ) تم دیکھو گے کہ جن کے پاؤں میں جوتا اور جسم پر کپڑا  نہیں ہے فقیر ہیں، بکریاں چرانے والے ہیں وہ بڑی بڑی عمارتیں بنانے میں ایک دوسرے پر بازی لے جانے کی کوشش کریں گے ۔ حضرت عمرانی فرماتے ہیں پھر وہ چلا گیا۔ میں نے کچھ دیر توقف کیا اور آنے والے شخص کے بارے میں دریافت نہیں کیا) پھر آپ نے خودی مجھ سے پوچھا: عمرا جانتے ہو یہ سوالات کرنے والا شخص کون تھا؟ میں نے عرض کیا: الله اور ان کے رسول ہی زیادہ جانتے ہیں۔ رسول اللہ صلى الله عليه وسلم نے ارشادفرمایا: یہ جبرئیل تھے جو تمہارے پاس تمہارا دین سکھانے کے لئے آئے تھے۔

Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: 
One day we were sitting in the service of the Messenger of Allah 
(peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) when suddenly a man came, 
whose clothes were very white and whose hair was very black. 
That which is thought to be a traveler (and one of us knew him which 
would indicate that he is a native of the religion). Kneel down and place 
both hands on your thighs. Then he said: O Muhammad! Tell me, 
what is Islam? The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: 
One of the pillars of Islam is that you (bear witness with your heart and tongue 
that No night worship except Allah Almighty
Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) 
is the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). 
The man said: You
Said the truth. Hazrat Omar (may Allah be pleased with him) also said: 
We were surprised at this person who asks questions as if he does not 
know and then confirms (as if he already knows). Then this person asked: 
Tell me what is faith? He said: Faith is that you believe in Allah Almighty, 
His angels, their books, their messengers and the Day of Resurrection with 
a clear heart and good and bad destiny. The man replied: You have pitched. 
Then the man asked: Tell me what is kindness? He said:
 
The virtue is that you worship and serve Allah Almighty as 
if you are seeing Allah Almighty, and if you do not have this 
condition, then keep in mind that Allah Almighty is watching you. 
Then the man asked: Tell me about the Resurrection
 (when it will come?) He said: The one who answers does not know 
more about it than the one who asks. I know more about it than you. 
What? Then tell me some of its signs. The Prophet (peace and blessings 
of Allah be upon him) said:
 
The respondent does not know more about this than the questioner. 
I know more about this than you do. The man replied: 
Then tell me some of its signs! The Prophet 
(peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: This is one of the signs
He said: The slave will give birth to his mistress and the 
second sign is that (you will see) those who have no shoe 
on their feet and nobody on their body are poor, they are shepherds 
of goats, they are trying to scatter one another in building big buildings. 
Will do Hazrat Imrani says then he left. I paused for a moment and did 
not inquire about the person who was coming.) Then you yourself asked me:

  

Umar, do you know who the person who asked these questions was? 
I said: Only Allah and His Messenger know best. 
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: 
It was Jibraeel who came to you to teach you your religion.
